A WONDERFUL JOURNEY TO MYSORE.......

All we were full of enthusiasm. It was my first journey to Mysore. We reached Mysore at around 9.AM. Our accommodation was arranged in hotel  S.K.Continental Mysore. After freshening up and taking rest for a while, our trip started to Ramakrishna Institute of  Moral and Spiritual Education, a premier institution for higher education. It is located in a beautiful sprawling campus, rich with greenery and known for its pollution free and serene environment. After reaching there, we were assembled in a hall for an inspiring talk of a leading person of RIMSE. Then we walked around the campus.RIMSE has adequate classrooms,a universal prayer hall, a library with more than 28,000 books and periodicals,150 single rooms and a spacious dining hall with modern kitchen….. Our teacher Dr.Sankaranarayanan Paleeri was an old student of RIMSE.
After had lunch, we went to Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary situates near to Mysore. The place is identified by Salim Ali ,our great Ornithologist. When boating at lake, we had seen some crocodiles quite close. It was a nice experience. After visiting Ranganathittu we went to Rail Museum, opposite to the Food Technology and Research Institute on Krishnaraja Sagar Road. It has locomotives and a gallery of photographs and paintings depicting the growth of railways in India. The museum has a battery operated mini train giving a short ride for children on the grounds. After our visit to the Rail Museum, we moved on towards the KRS Brindavan Garden at around 7.pm. the main attraction of the park is the music fountain In which burst of water are syncronized to the music of songs. There is a lake within the garden with boating facilities available for visitors. We had spent around 2 hours there. Then we returned back to the hotel.
On second day,we had visited two historical places,Sravenbelgola and Halebid star temple. First we went to Halebid star temple built in Halebid during the rule of King Vishnuvardhana of the Hoysala Empire in the 12th century. It is most well known for its sculptures . It is difficult to draw in paper such works that done by the artists on rocks. We spent for long hours there and it was wonderful experience. After had lunch our next trip began to Sravenbelgola. The 57 feet tall monolithic statue of Gomedwesara is located on vindyagiri hill and it is considered to be the World’s largest monolithic stone statue. We had to climb up and down about 1200 stairs..Even though we were full of enthusiasm…..After spending sometimes there we returned back to hotel.

On third day, we had visited about 5 places. First we went to St. Philomena Church, a beautiful cathedral considered to be one of the largest churches in the country. It has an imposing medieval architectural style with lovely stained glass windows and huge towers..After visiting there, we moved on toward the Mysore Palace, the central piece of Mysore attraction..The interior of the palace is richly curved, intricate, colourful and architecturally thrilling…A view that is as everlasting as the monument itself. Unfortunately we couldn’t take our cameras inside…. Then we went to Art Gallery, one of the largest collections of artifact in South India. Most of these artifacts are paintings, prominent among which are those by Raja Ravi Varma. Another important painting present here is the lady with the lamp placed in a dark room. This is to give an illusion that the glow of the lamp illuminating the face of the women…Finally, our trip was to Chamundi Hills, the temple of Goddess Chammudeswari situated there. There is also a huge statue of Nandi on the top….we spent for long time there..Then we returned back…All in all , it was a memorable and everlasting journey…
